Before i start: HAPPY BIRFDAY ASMA!!
You kno what gives me a laff. Seeing girls come to mosque dressed in black then heading strait fer the bathroom as soon as they step inside. Once they reach the sanctuary of the bathroom, out comes the makeup kit, after which they work studiously on pretty-fying themselves. Eyeliners, lips, even their hair has to be free from imperfections, cuz god forbid someone sees them looking normal for once. Lets take a sneak peak into the minds of a regular pretty-fying girl, shall we:
Okay so this year im soooo glad that i finally got sum cool black clothes as opposed to the plain ones my moms always tryin to make me wear. i mean come on, how can i possibly live without having a pant suit this muharram wid slits in the arms and a net convering for the neck. i';; be de hottest girl to hit mosque..now this is what i call muharram.
oh but BOOOOOO HOOOOOO my dad wont lemme wear my eye liner to mosque, looks like ill jus have to sneak it in and then pretty myself up in case im passing by the mens door at some time and by some freak of nature some boy my age happens to see me well enuff to notice my perfectly lined eyes...yes i think thats why i shud wear my eye liner. it makes my life complete.
this can go on, but i doubt that people actually care enuff to keep reading, so i will discontinue my rants and save them fer someone to hear in person (dont you wish that person was you)
for all those non-muslim, non-shi'ites reading (if anyone still reads this) i doubt youd understand this post...dont worrty the normal saima ranting-ness will be back this reading week

hehe... i quoted that from your post... pretty sad if eyeliner makes you feel complete.... it's pretty sad that muharram turns into this big social event... where people show up more concerned about how they look rather than what they learn... where post majlis gossip holds more importance than whatever the lecture was about... we are such a funny/sad bunch... we claim that it is the most important, sombre date of the shia calendar yet we treat it like one big tea party... oh well... we can always hope for change in attitude... rite?
